Journal
In Odoo ERP, a Journal is used to record and organize financial transactions based on their nature.
It acts as a classification tool that ensures every transaction—such as sales, purchases, bank payments, or cash expenses—is recorded in the correct place.
Journals help maintain accurate accounting records and make financial reporting simple and structured.

Types of Journals in Odoo ERP
Odoo uses different journals for different purposes, such as:
→ Sales Journal – for customer invoices.
→ Purchase Journal – for vendor bills.
→ Bank Journal – for bank transactions.
→ Cash Journal – for cash payments and receipts.
→ Manual Journal – for manual and adjustment entries.
Manual Journals Creation
In Odoo ERP, manual journals allow you to record unique financial transactions that can’t be recorded normally. For example, if you need to record a monthly depreciation rate, you can use a manual journal for that specific entry.
Here are the steps for creating a Manual Journal:
Step 1: Go to Accounting Module and select Journal Entries under the Accounting.
Step2: Click + New Button in the top Left side corner.
Step 3: In the New Journal page, enter the required details:
Note: Select the Date on which you want to record the manual journal.
The journal field add which you want to make it.
Reference field add journal entry name.
Add required details in Journal page for example I Create in image see in below.
Now You cane see the journal is completely done Click Post.
Note: Ensure that the amount debited is always equal to the amount credited.
After following these steps, the Journal entry is successfully Created.
