General settings

The General Settings section in WordPress allows you to configure basic information about your website, such as the site title, URL, and timezone. You can access it by going to:
WordPress Dashboard → Settings → General

Key Settings in the General Tab

1. Site Title

   o  This is the name of your website, displayed in the browser tab and on search engines.

2. Tagline

   o  A short description of your site (e.g., “Just another WordPress site”). You can customize or remove it.

3. WordPress Address (URL)

   o  The URL where WordPress is installed (e.g., https://yourwebsite.com).

4. Site Address (URL)

   o  The URL visitors use to access your site. Usually, it’s the same as the WordPress Address unless WordPress is installed in a subdirectory.

5. Administration Email Address

   o  The email used for WordPress notifications, such as updates, user registrations, or security alerts.

6. Membership

  o  If enabled, anyone can register an account on your site.

7. New User Default Role

o  Determines the default role for new users (Subscriber, Contributor, Author, Editor, Administrator).

8. Site Language

   o  Selects the default language for the WordPress dashboard.

9. Timezone

   o  Sets your site’s time zone for scheduling posts and displaying correct times.

10. Date Format

   o  Allows you to choose how dates are displayed on your site.

11. Time Format

   o  Configures how time appears on your site.

12. Week Starts On

   o  Sets which day the week starts on in your WordPress calendar.

Why Are These Settings Important?

  Ensures proper branding and site identity.
•  Helps search engines understand your site better.
•  Keeps your WordPress notifications and user registrations in check.
  Ensures correct date and time settings for scheduled posts and events.
